About Us
In 1958, the Friends of the Danville Library (FODL) was established as a nonprofit organization with the goal of supporting the Danville Library. With an all-volunteer staff, the Friends have generously contributed to the Library through its membership dues, sales in the Friends Bookstore, and special book sale events all year round. All proceeds benefit the Danville Library’s adult and children’s programs, numerous Library events, as well as the purchase of new books and materials benefiting all our patrons. We are grateful for the support from our loyal community of book lovers!
How the Friends
Help the Library
We help the Danville Library in many ways and the programs we sponsor change from year to year. Here are just a few:
Legos and Listening
This program is designed to hone listening skills and explore creativity. Children ages 4-9 listen quietly to recorded stories while creating projects with Lego building blocks.

Family Story Hour
Wednesday morning at 11:15 is Family Story Hour. It's the perfect combination of books, finger plays, rhymes, songs, fun movement activities and much more!

Paws to Read
Students in grades 1-5 have fun and improve their literacy skills while reading to therapy dogs certified by the Valley Humane Society. Bring a favorite book from home, or choose one of ours!
